Cannabis at the Crossroads

Vital City and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY are hosting an in-depth conversation on New York’s rocky rollout of legal cannabis — examining what policies and practices are needed to create a viable market moving forward.

The panel discussion will include:

- Errol Louis, NY1 Political Anchor, Host of Inside City Hall, Vital City Contributing Writer and Newmark J-School Local Accountability Reporting Program professor (moderator)

- Rosalind Adams, reporter at THE CITY

- Dr. Yasmin Hurd, Ward-Coleman Chair of Translational Neuroscience and the Director of the Addiction Institute at Mount Sinai

- Alfredo Angueira, Chief Compliance Officer and founding partner of CONBUD, the first legal cannabis dispensary run and operated by formerly incarcerated individuals

Lunch will be provided for those attending in person.

  • Errol Louis is the Political Anchor of Spectrum News NY1, where he hosts "Inside City Hall," a nightly primetime show about New York City politics where he interviews top political and cultural leaders. Louis has moderated more than two dozen debates between candidates for mayor, public advocate, city and state comptroller, state Attorney General and U.S. Senate. He was recently ranked #40 on the list of the 100 most powerful people in New York City politics. He is an adjunct professor of Urban Reporting at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism as well as co-editor of Deadline Artists.
