Vital City is a policy journal and website that seeks to use data to illuminate New York City’s problems, with an emphasis on public safety, and provide practical solutions to those problems. Vital City is looking for a summer intern to support this work. The internship will be full-time and run from July-August 2023.

We are seeking a well-organized person with the flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced team. Our ideal candidate will have an interest in journalism, urban policy and New York City, and be willing to take on a range of different tasks in support of the journal. Because a portion of this internship will be devoted to assisting with our research on the city’s jails, applicants with an interest in courts and corrections will be especially well-suited to the role. Applicants must have the ability to accurately enter data into Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Google Suite.
